Beyazit Mosque

Beyazit Mosque is located on the European side of Istanbul,in Beyazit Square which is situated in Eminonu district .Constraction of the mosque started in 1500 and ended in 1505.The architect of Beyazit Mosque is not excactly known.It can be Architect Hayrettin,Architect Kemalettin or Yakupsah bin Sultansah.Beyazit Mosque compelx consists of many parts,such as mosque,medrese,bath,kitchen...But the copmlex is not collective but separated from eachother.Beyazit Mosque has a dome with 16.78m diameter,and constructed on 4 columns.Minarets of the mosque are not directly around the dome of mosque but they are constructed on a building of the complex,which is nearby the mosque.Beacause of this situation the distance between two minarets is 79 mt.And this is one of the differances of Beyazit Mosque from other mosques.The wood,stone and stained glass works of the mosque are the most attractive points.The neighbours of the mosque in the Beyazit square area are, Beyazit Tower,Sahaflar, Istanbul University.And when you follow the main street towards Eminonu you will come across with Grand Bazaar.
