About Taksim Historical Cistern...

In order to solve problem of water in the Bosphorus side, Construction of Taksim Historical Cistern which is on joint of Istiklal Street and Taksim Street, started in III. Ahmed Period and construction continued in I. Mahmud and completed with Water of Taksim Institution in 1731. Taksim Cistern where is distribution of water, has an octagon body which made from sandstone and has a pyramid octagon roof. There is 1732 dated three staves epigraph on the circular arched door. On the door, there is an arched window and there is Turkish bird nest on the two sides of door. The wall ( Taksim resevoir)  which is on the Harbiye direction of Cistern was built , in order to provide water againts water shortage.
