 Akbank Jazz Festival, which has contributed on the creation and maintenance of the jazz culture in Turkey, continues to support new jazz projects. Akbank Jazz Festival, the first of which was realized in 1991 - with the participation of Ahmed Abdullah & The Solomonic Sextet, Max Roach Quartet, Airto Moreira & Flora Purim Quintet, Art Ensemble of Chicago and Senem Diyici Sextet - organizes more than 50 concerts and tens of different subsidiary events every year.

 
Akbank Jazz Festival, which celebrated its 21st year in 2011, includes not only jazz but also different types of avangart, electronic and modern jazz music. Akbank Jazz Festival, which is a versatile festival with panels, workshops, movies and social responsibility projects, interacts with people from different age groups of the society in accordance with its expanding event scale.
 
Akbank Jazz Festival, which celebrated its 20th year in 2010, glorified this special year with a retrospective documentary, book and a special compiled album, telling the story of the 20 years of the Festival. 20th Akbank Jazz Festival received Culture-Arts Category Award in the Corporate Social Responsibility Category at the Altin Pusula (Golden Compass) Public Relations Awards organized by Turkish Public Relations Association (TUKID) in 2011.
 
Akbank Jazz Festival has come together with young people at many different universities of Turkey, outside of Istanbul, thanks to its Jazz at the Campus concerts, which have been organized since 2006. Jazz at the Campus concerts have been realized in 9 different cities of Turkey including Eskisehir, Ankara, Trabzon, Erzurum, Adana, Kayseri, Konya and Bursa in addition to Istanbul in 2011.
 
Akbank Jazz Festival, in keeping up with its tradition of offering different spectacular events each year, initiated JamZZ Young Talents Competition in 2011 to create new opportunities for young jazz enthusiasts. Three finalists, who were selected in the categories of "Best Performance", "Best Improvisation" and "Best Interpretation" by the jury in the competition, made a performance in Babylon.
 
During its history, Akbank Cazz Festival hosted many different names of different generations and different types of music, which are akin to jazz, such as Cecil Taylor, Archie Shepp, Roberto Fonseca, Terje Rypdal, Miroslav Vitous, Nils Peter Molvear, Anouar Brahem Trio, Abdullah Ibrahim, Aydin Esen, Betty Carter Trio, Dave Holland, John Zorn, Cassandra Wilson, Joachim Kühn, Joe Zawinul, Anthony Braxton, McCoy Tyner, Joe Lovano, Egberto Gismonti Trio, Courtney Pine, Pharoah Sanders, Muhal Richard Abrams, Roscoe Mitchell, Arto Lindsay, Richard Bona, Max Roach, Nguyen Le, Dino Saluzzi, Jimmy Smith, Ayse Tütüncü, Art Ensemble of Chicago, Trio 3, Aki Takase, Sam Rivers, Don Cherry, Richard Galliano, Biréli Lagr¨ne, Stephan Micus, Steve Turre, Charles Lloyd New Quartet, Avishai Cohen "Seven Seas", Arild Andersen Trio, Maffy Falay Sextet, Dusko Goykovich Quartet, Paul Motian, The Ray Gelato Giants, Azam Ali & Niyaz, Robert Glasper Experiment, Vijay Iyer Trio and ZAZ.
